Last year, we worked tirelessly speaking with residents about the waste and recycling service in Calderdale. Despite the Labour-run Calderdale Council paying the providers an extra £450,000 on top of existing commitments, you told us that:
• Recycling collections were being missed across Calderdale.
• One windy day could leave rubbish littered across our communities and countryside.
• You were not getting the service you deserve for the Council tax you pay.
After continuous efforts by Calderdale Conservatives to raise your comments about the waste and recycling service, the Labour-run Council is exploring options for improving the service.
This includes a range of options, from changing the number of collections to a complete overhaul resulting in the Council running the operations.
As it stands, the Council has extended the current contract with the providers for two years, with a decision on future service delivery expected soon. That’s why we need your views on improving the service.
Otherwise, we may end up with the same inadequate service!
Our view is simple - the waste and recycling service should be better, cleaner, and more reliable.
