As your local MP in Halifax, Hazel Sharp will work to secure further investment in our towns and improve opportunities for all.
Hazel is an acute specialist physiotherapist at our local NHS Trust, treating the most vulnerable people in our area. A passion to improve every part of Halifax for everyone is what drives her forward.
Hazel lives with her husband, two teenagers and dog. Her family mean the world to her.
Visiting many areas across Halifax, Hazel said, 'It's been great talking with residents about local issues; I understand the continued pressures from increases to Council Tax, the lack of leisure facilities, poor local services, and higher parking charges. Labour-run Calderdale Council is failing to deliver. This would only get worse under a Labour Government.'
‘Despite the challenges, Halifax is a town of which everyone can be proud. The communities across the constituency are welcoming, and the countryside is beautiful.’
Hazel has a joined-up plan for Halifax, to deliver on your priorities:
- Push for more investment in Halifax. The Conservative Government has so far invested £20m in Halifax through the new bus station and £11m to revitalise the Town Centre. Another £20m has been pledged to invest across the other communities in the area such as Sowerby Bridge, Warley, Skircoat, Park, Ovenden, Illingworth, Mixenden, Northowram and Shelf should we win the election.
- Stop illegal immigration. We must stop the boats. People are losing their lives crossing the Channel and illegal immigration is costing taxpayers £7m per day. To deter this action, we must continue with the Rwanda Scheme. Legal immigration is also a problem and I will push for a cap on migrant visas.
- Fight to secure even more funding for our Local NHS Trust. The Conservative Government is investing £197m in the local Trust. This will deliver a new A&E, more Wards, and much needed parking. From her work in the NHS, Hazel understands the benefits this investment will bring for patients and staff.
- Protect our Green spaces. It is unacceptable that Labour-run Calderdale Council plans to build more than 10,000 properties on green belt when Halifax has abundant Brownfield sites available. I will demand brownfield is prioritised for housing and that we should receive more funding for infrastructure such as roads, schools, and GP surgeries.
Hazel understands the communities of Halifax and problems you face.
On July 4th, please use your vote wisely. A vote for any other party only makes a Labour Government more likely.
If you live in Halifax, please vote for Hazel Sharp.
