Michael Holdsworth has been selected to stand in Skircoat Ward, at the upcoming local elections.
Michael has a six-point plan to deliver on your priorities:
Trimming trees and tidying our parks. Skircoat is home to two of Calderdale's finest parks - Manor Heath and Savile Park. With two additional maintenance teams, we will keep our parks free of litter and green areas tidy, for you to enjoy.
Tough on crime. We will clamp down on fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour by recruiting more community wardens with mobile CCTV, to deter crime. The Conservative Government is also recruiting more 'Bobbies on the Beat' to keep our streets safe.
Investment in transport. The Conservative Government is overhauling transport in Halifax with brand new bus and rail stations, to improve the passenger experience and enhance connectivity. Through the Transforming Cities Fund, new facilities and routes are due to be built, to encourage walking and cycling - this will help take cars off the road and provide options for healthier modes of transport.
Upgrading our NHS and taking cars off streets. Our hospital is due be upgraded from the £200 million for a new A&E department, two in-partient wards and a multi-story car park - which will mean less parked cars on streets in Skircoat Green. The parking situation is a huge issue for residents and this should help tackle the problem.
Scrapping Labour's parking charges. We will scrap the extension to parking charges, making parking free once again after 6pm and back local businesses. We need to build back better from the pandemic, and help our high streets recover.
Addressing flooding. The Conservative Government has provided the funding to improve flood defences in Copley and across Calderdale, and to prevent future flooding, with upland and natural flood mitigation schemes. I will continue to push for similar schemes, locally.
If you live in Skircoat Green, Copley, Manor Heath, Savile Park or Well Head - vote for Michael Holdsworth on Thursday 5 May.
