Stephen Baines is standing for re-election in Northowram and Shelf Ward, at the upcoming local elections.
Stephen has a joined-up plan to deliver on your priorities:
- Delivering frontline services. We are investing in two additional maintenance teams with vehicles to keep our parks and open spaces, clean and tidy. Additionally, we will take steps to ensure regular collections of your rubbish take place every week.
- Beating Crime Plan. The Conservative Government is putting more 'bobbies on the beat', we will work with West Yorkshire Police for an additional constable in our ward, which will help in our fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Improving our highways. The state of the roads, especially with potholes, are causing damage to our vehicles. We will fix Labour’s mess, by repairing over 3000 additional potholes per year and maintain the painting of our road markings.
- Saving our libraries and parks. We continue to work to ensure that the Shelf Library and Village Hall is open for the benefit of our community. And we want to see more investment in our parks and sports facilities.
- Fighting litter and fly-tipping. If we regain control, we will begin issuing fines for those caught littering and fly-tipping, and invest in enforcement. The Labour-run Council has not fined anybody since the new regulations were put in place. Additionally, those on community sentences will be made to clean up our streets.
- Protecting the Greenbelt. We will continue to fight Labour’s mass housing plan for houses to be built on our green belt. Both Northowram and Shelf villages have grown so much, they could be classed as small towns.
If you live in Claremount, Stump Cross, Northowram, Stone Chair or Shelf - use your vote to re-elect Stephen Baines on Thursday 5 May.
