Yesterday, the new Officer Team of the Halifax Conservative Association met to outline its strategy for the coming year and develop plans to drive forward the presence of the Conservative Party across Halifax and Sowerby Bridge.
This was following the Annual General Meeting of the Halifax Conservative Association, at the end of June. Local Conservative Party members elected a new Officer Team:
- Chair, Penny Hutchinson
- Deputy Chair Political, Nikki Kelly
- Deputy Chair Membership, Peter Hunt
- Deputy Chair Fundraising, Vishal Gupta
- Treasurer, Michael Holdsworth
- President, Stephen Baines MBE
“I am excited about my new role, and about the calibre of our Executive team. We have many ideas, and so much ambition, enthusiasm, and determination. But we need more support. Our aim is to deliver results for the residents of Halifax. To do this we need to grow our membership, support more of our members to stand as candidates and ultimately increase our elected councillor numbers from Halifax in the Town Hall” said Penny Hutchinson.
Councillor Steven Leigh (Leader of the Conservative Group), attended the AGM and paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman Naveed Khan, “I would like to thank Naveed for his hard work over the last few years. Naveed was our first Asian Chairman, and led the Association during a tumultuous period throughout the pandemic. We bounced back from lockdown, and made large gains in Halifax, such as the election of a Conservative councillor for the first time in the history of Illingworth and Mixenden. I want to congratulate the new officers on their election, and I look forward to working closely together over the next year, and monitoring the Association’s progress”.
