The Conservative Group called-in Labour’s Local Plan Modifications Consultation which aimed to hold a consultation on the Local Plan during the height of the school holiday period, when residents were away or busy, in an attempt to reduce public engagement and criticism of their terrible housing strategy. We are very happy that due to our action, we have been able to delay and extend the consultation period.
Please watch the video and hear Cllr Leigh, Leader of the Conservative Group on Calderdale Council, outline our reasons for calling-in the consultation and why we are fighting to give residents a fair opportunity to have their say on the Local Plan. The speech can be found by clicking this link button.
The Conservative Party is the only Party in Calderdale fighting tooth and nail to stop Labour’s Local Plan which threatens our Green Belt and countryside, and will put local services and infrastructure under enormous strain.
We need a new Plan which puts infrastructure in place before housing developments, and provides a more even distribution of housing throughout Calderdale.
Calderdale’s first Green Party Councillor was in attendance at the meeting, but could not be bothered to speak despite promising residents in Northowram and Shelf that he would fight against the housing developments in the area.
