Short-stay parking in Brighouse and Hebden Bridge is set to increase by a staggering 400% under new plans by Labour-run Calderdale Council.
New Short-Stay Charges:
- Brighouse: From 20p for 30 minutes to £1. From 40p per hour to £2.
- Hebden Bridge: From 20p for 30 minutes to £1. From 40p per hour to £2.
- Halifax: From 60p per hour to £1.
Local residents and businesses are still reeling from last year’s increases which were hard enough. But these new proposals show a complete disregard for the impact they will have on Calderdale.
Brighouse and Halifax have a promising future, thanks to investments of £19.1m and £11.7m respectively from the previous Conservative government to revitalise their high streets.
However, these drastic parking charges risk deterring people from visiting and so potentially jeopardising all our hard work.
We must take a more balanced approach that considers the long-term impact on local residents and businesses.
Your local Conservative Councillors are calling on Labour to STOP these increases.
But we need your support!
Join us in TAKING ACTION by emailing the Labour Council Leader and the responsible Cabinet Members and demand they STOP the increases:
