I want to thank all the hardworking candidates and volunteers. You have all done an exceptional job; regardless of the outcome, you should be proud of your efforts. Thank you.
Speaking of the result, holding onto these seats was an outstanding achievement. After a challenging year, we knew it would be a tough election, so we are grateful to the Calderdale residents for trusting us.
Over the last 12 months, the Conservative Group has much to be proud of, which is shown in the result today.
We fought hard against Labour's disastrous local plan and held them accountable for their incompetence in paying an extra half million while recycling collections continued to be missed.
We also exposed the Labour group's lack of financial acumen, which left Halifax without leisure facilities as they failed to spend money wisely.
In addition, thank you to our candidates that were not successful. We did exceptionally well in Greetland & Stainland and Town Ward. We will build on that momentum.
Moving forward, we are aware of the issues surrounding the Local Plan, Ryburn incinerator, and the cost of living crisis. We will continue to represent the voices the Labour administration chooses to ignore.
But most importantly, we understand the challenges ahead and look forward to building momentum towards a record 5th term in national office.
Once again, I want to express my gratitude to all the brilliant volunteers, candidates, and election staff for their hard work and commitment. Thank you.
